Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez’s preparations for Argentina’s fixture versus Venezuela have been thrown into chaos by Hurricane Milton.

With Alejandro Garnacho’s injury, Martinez is the only Red Devil in the Copa America winners’ squad.

The national team had been training at Fort Lauderdale – Inter Miami’s training facilities due to their connection with Lionel Messi.

They had been preparing for their two October qualifying games for the 2026 World Cup against Venezuela and Bolivia.

Sadly, Florida is in the midst of a massive hurricane called Milton and it hit the southern state a matter of hours ago with millions losing power.

According to USA Today Sports, the Argentinian national team were able to leave Miami before the hurricane struck.

Lisandro Martinez and the “Argentine National Football Team departed from South Florida on Wednesday afternoon, a day before a match in Venezuela and ahead of Hurricane Milton’s expected landfall in the state.”

“The team is unable to fly from Argentina and the United States directly to Venezuela. So, the reigning World Cup champions departed Miami and have a layover in Barranquilla, Colombia before arriving in Maturín, Venezuela.”

Martinez and his compatriots will be grateful they have got out of the affected area before the real danger hit but the delay has also made for less than ideal preparations.

Speaking on the issue, Argentina coach Lionel Scaloni claimed he had wanted to leave two days before the match and not one. After only travelling a few hours ago, they will need to be ready to face Venezuela at 11pm Uk time tonight.

Elaborating on the issue Scaloni said, “it will be difficult for us. We will arrive just one day before the game. We have to make a stop because they are not allowing flights from American soil directly to Venezuela.”

United fans will be happy to hear that Martinez is out of the danger zone as Florida prepares for the one of the worst hurricanes in recorded history to hit the area.
