In another crucial step towards confirming their favoritism in the quest for the Premier League title, Liverpool won the Merseyside Derby against Everton 1-0 without taking too many risks of conceding a goal.

In the first 45 minutes, Liverpool had a greater volume of play and came closer to opening the scoring, but were unable to turn their dominance into goals. Luis Díaz was the standout performer, very active and constantly giving Everton's defensive system a hard time. Despite this, the visitors had the best chance of the game in the 32nd minute, when Beto hit the post and scored a goal that was disallowed by the referees.

After resisting throughout the first half, Everton conceded the goal in the 56th minute with another great move from Colombian Luis Díaz, who assisted Diogo Jota, who cut out two defenders and finished calmly to score. The Reds came back more organized in the second half, and Everton's counter-attacks were no longer enough to put the win at risk.

Salah's performance was below average for the season, largely due to the marking of full-back Mykolenko, but Liverpool didn't need a great performance from the Egyptian to win and reach 73 points, leaving them 12 points clear of Arsenal, who face Everton on Saturday.

Can Arsenal still upset Liverpool in the title race?

Considering Liverpool's disappointing cup run, confirmation of the Premier League title seems only a matter of time. The Reds have a considerable lead at the top, while Arsenal will still be dividing their attention with the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League.

Are Liverpool strong favorites against Fulham?

Fulham are one of the biggest positive surprises in the Premier League this season, with a level of competitiveness that is higher than expected compared to the start of the season. However, the last few games have shown a considerable drop in physical intensity, allowing Liverpool to assume considerable favoritism for the next matchweek.
