Alisson Becker has said his performance in Liverpool’s win at Paris Saint-Germain was probably ‘the best’ of his career.

Alisson was outstanding as Liverpool earned a 1-0 win at PSG in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. Liverpool were second best throughout the contest, as the French champions boasted 71% of the possession and fired 27 shots on goal.

PSG, however, could not find a route past Liverpool’s goalkeeper. Alisson made nine saves, the joint-most the 32-year-old has ever made in a Champions League game.

He got down brilliantly to deny Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and was at full stretch late on to tip Desire Doue’s effort around the post. His heroics saw Alisson record 1.82 xG prevented and set the stage for Liverpool to seal a smash and grab win.

Harvey Elliott scored the decisive goal off the bench on 87 minutes, just seconds after his introduction.

Reflecting on his performance, Alisson suggested his Parc des Princes performance might be the best of his career so far.

“The best, probably of my life, so far anyway, hopefully,” Alisson reflected to TNT Sports at full-time.

“The manager was telling us how hard it would be, we had to be ready to suffer. There’s so much quality on their side. We worked hard, but gave away so many chances. Then Harvey came on and scored the goal…”

Match-winner Elliott was full of praise for his teammate and hailed Alisson as the best shot-stopper in world football.

“I’ve got no words to be honest, this guy is unbelievable, the best in the world. Every game he shows it. He keeps us in so many games and tonight it’s my opportunity to repay this man. Without him I don’t know where we’d be.”
