Liverpool Football Club appear set to make a significant move in the transfer market by targeting Bournemouth’s Milos Kerkez as the potential successor to Andy Robertson at left-back. The young Hungarian defender has quickly become the centre of a transfer tug-of-war among the Premier League’s elite, with Manchester United and Manchester City also showing keen interest.
However, sources close to the situation have revealed that Kerkez favours a move to Anfield, a preference largely influenced by his professional relationship with Liverpool’s Director of Football, Richard Hughes.

Since his arrival in England in the summer of 2023, Milos Kerkez has impressed at Bournemouth, capturing the attention of top clubs. His strong performances have not only helped his team but have also highlighted his potential as a top-class defender in the making.
Liverpool, with a strategic eye, has already initiated talks with the player’s representatives. “Liverpool, City, and United have already started to make contact with the player’s representatives, but it is understood the 21-year-old favours a move to Anfield over the Manchester clubs,” reports iNews.
Andy Robertson has been a cornerstone of Liverpool’s defence, contributing significantly during the club’s recent successful years under Jurgen Klopp. However, this season has seen Robertson showing signs of slowing down, with a noticeable dip in his attacking contributions. This has led to increasing calls from fans for Kostas Tsimikas to step up, as evidenced when Tsimikas assisted Diogo Jota’s equaliser at Nottingham Forest merely seconds after being subbed on.

The club’s pursuit of Kerkez thus reflects a proactive approach in refreshing and strengthening the squad, ensuring that the team remains competitive on all fronts. “This season, while all else around him has been near imperious during Arne Slot’s impressive first season at Anfield, Robertson has showed signs of weariness,” iNews highlighted.
While Liverpool leads the chase for Kerkez, it’s clear that the club’s relationship with Richard Hughes could be a deciding factor. Hughes, who was instrumental in bringing Kerkez to England, continues to play a pivotal role in Liverpool’s strategic transfer decisions. Bournemouth, on the other hand, seems prepared for potential departures having already signed Julio Soler as a potential replacement, in a deal worth up to £11.5 million.
The Merseyside club, aware of the competitive market, is likely gearing up for a substantial offer, with Bournemouth expected to entertain offers around the £50 million mark. “There have been no concrete proposals for Kerkez as yet for either side. There is no pressure to sell from Bournemouth’s point of view but offers in the region of £50m is where they are understood to be willing to do business,” according to iNews.

As a Liverpool supporter, the prospect of signing Milos Kerkez brings a wave of optimism. With Andy Robertson showing signs of fatigue and Kostas Tsimikas only starting as a backup, securing a young, talented player like Kerkez could ensure Liverpool remains strong on the left flank. His preference for Liverpool over Manchester rivals adds a sweetener to the anticipation of his potential arrival.
Under Arne Slot’s guidance, Liverpool has shown a clear direction and ambition. Adding a player of Kerkez’s calibre would not only bolster our defensive options but also rejuvenate the team’s dynamics, making Liverpool a formidable force in both domestic and European competitions. This is a signing that would surely excite the fans and signal Liverpool’s intent to continue competing at the highest level.
