Liverpool’s goalkeeping situation is becoming stranger and stranger as the season goes by.

Alisson is the Reds’ undisputed number one, having been the best goalkeeper in the world in recent years and possibly the best in the club’s history.

Until now, Caomhín Kelleher has been a great backup option – the "best number-two goalie in the world," according to Jurgen Klopp.

Having joined Liverpool in 2015 as a 17-year-old, Kelleher has gone on to start in and win two League Cup finals for the club alongside providing a safe pair of hands when Alisson has been unavailable.

Liverpool's search for a midfielder has been well-documented, with the club and Arne Slot wanting to add depth and quality to their squad as they aim for trophies this season.

After failing to sign Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad, Slot and Sporting Director Richard Hughes decided to start the season without adding to their midfield, instead trusting Ryan Gravenberch to step into the number 6 role – something he's done spectacularly well.

The Dutch midfielder has been one of Liverpool's best performers this season, taking to a deeper role like a duck to water.

However, it's no secret that Slot still wants to add another midfielder to his squad, and Liverpool sent a scout to a Champions League match this week to watch a target who could replace Dominik Szoboszlai next summer.

Salah responds to African Player of the Year snub

Mohamed Salah's representatives have made a response to his omission from the African Player of the Year award with a shocking claim.

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) released its annual nominees for the African Player of the Year award.

Despite a strong start to the season with Liverpool, Mohamed Salah was surprisingly not on the 10-man shortlist, which included former Everton attacker Ademola Lookman, who scored a hat-trick in the Europa League final earlier this year.

Lookman's inclusion is probably warranted. However, there were some eyebrow raising inclusions on the list, including Chancel Mbemba, who earned the nomination after leading his country to the semi-finals at AFCON.

Anfield has long been renowned as one of the best stadiums in the world for watching football.

Liverpool’s iconic home has played host to some of the game’s most significant matches with many Reds of the past taking their place on the pantheon of all-time greats.

Current favourites Mohamed Salah, Virgil van Dijk and Trent Alexander-Arnold can claim to be among the game’s modern legends, winning Premier League and Champions League glory and thrilling the Anfield crowd hundreds of times along the way.

Recent redevelopment works around the ground have seen the maximum capacity swell, meaning more fans than ever can get in on the action.

Liverpool reject Szoboszlai request

For the majority of people related to Liverpool, the game against Leipzig was simply another important match on the European cycle. A tough side, a dangerous opponent and a necessary victory.

But for Dominik Szoboszlai and Ibrahima Konate it was a return to their former homes, to the place where they went from boys to men, to the place where Liverpool found them.

Konate joined Liverpool from Leipzig back in 2021 for around £36m, whilst Szoboszlai made the move last summer for £60m.

With it being his first time back at the Red Bull Arena since heading to Merseyside, Leipzig wanted to present the Hungarian international with a bronze bull statue before kickoff as a token of their gratitude for his time spent at the club - a tradition for returning players.

Despite having a hot-and-cold start to the season, Darwin Nuñez picked up the only goal of the game against Leipzig last night.

It will have been a welcome relief for both player and head coach, with rumours of Liverpool actively searching for a replacements in the central attacking role.
