Liverpool have received some positive news on the injury front as Joe Gomez has returned to training ahead of their Uefa Champions League meeting with PSV Eindhoven.

The defender has been sidelined for the past seven matches with a hamstring injury that he sustained against West Ham United on 29 December.

However, manager Arne Slot will not be able to call upon striker Diogo Jota or midfielder Curtis Jones for the midweek as the pair remain on the treatment table.

Jones missed Saturday’s win over Ipswich with a groin problem while Jota has been out of action for the past fortnight with a muscle injury. The Reds have no other injury problems of note.

Liverpool have already guaranteed themselves a top eight finish in the competition, which sees them bypass the playoff round into the last-16. They will top the table if they avoid defeat to PSV at the Philips Stadion on Wednesday evening.
