Liverpool have won each of their last three home games against Spurs, scoring exactly four each time, with Tottenham winning at Anfield only once in 28 attempts since 1998.
Will this be the day Liverpool are finally, officially, crowned Premier League champions? For months now, it's been abundantly clear to everyone that the Reds will secure a record-equalling 20th top division English title, and just a point here will secure it. Last weekend, despite having 28 shots to Leicester's five, they required a late strike from Trent Alexander-Arnold to snatch a 1-0 victory at the King Power. Thus, Arne Slot's team remain 12 points clear and, having won six of their last seven, it's rather been a procession, with no one forecasting that the champions-elect will slip-up here.
As for Tottenham Hotspur, 12 months ago their supporters were faced with a morale quandary of seeing their side, potentially, hand the title to fierce rivals Arsenal. No such dilemmas this time, albeit Spurs appear ill-equipped to get a result on Merseyside, whether they would've wanted to or not. On Monday night, Ange Postecoglou's team were beaten for the 18th time this season, and counting, this time defeated 2-1 by Nottingham Forest, with Richarlison's late goal unable to spark a comeback.
Thus, the Lilywhites remain 16th, on course to lose more than 50% of their matches in a league season for the first time in 90 years. However, Tottenham could of course salvage the season by winning the Europa League, set to take on surprise-package Bodø/Glimt in the semi-finals, with the first leg in North London coming up this forthcoming Thursday. Before then, Spurs are likely to be the guests to Liverpool's long-awaited, eagerly-anticipated title party.
Trent Alexander-Arnold came off the bench to score the winner at Leicester, his first appearance since 11 March due to injury, so will he start this time, or will Conor Bradley keep his place? Similarly, on the opposite side, Kostas Tsimikas is hoping to start three successive Premier League matches for the first time since December 2023, having usurped Andy Robertson in the pecking order.
Elsewhere, Arne Slot has few decisions to make, apart from in attack, where Cody Gakpo got the nod over Darwin Núñez and Diogo Jota at the King Power, so will he do so again?
Liverpool predicted lineup vs Tottenham Hotspur: (4-3-3): Alisson; Alexander-Arnold, Konaté, van Dijk, Tsimikas; Gravenberch, Mac Allister, Szoboszlai; Salah, Luis Díaz, Gakpo.
Mohamed Salah has scored 32 goals this season, despite being six games without a goal, so can teh Egyptian end this barren run by adding to his 15 career goals against Spurs?
With one eye on Thursday, Ange Postecoglou might rotate. Centre-backs Cristian Romero and Micky van de Ven, who are both rebuilding their fitness, were both substituted at half time on Monday, replaced by Ben Davies and Kevin Danso, so will their minutes continue to be managed?
Meantime, Son Heung-min is a doubt due to a foot injury, having sat out the last two matches, while James Maddison is unlikely to be risked either, after hobbling off in Frankfurt.
Guglielmo Vicario has kept just four clean sheets in 21 Premier League appearances this season, unlikely to add to that tally here, surely expecting a busy afternoon's work.
Liverpool vs Tottenham Hotspur takes place on Sunday 27 April 2025, with kick off at 16:30 (BST), 11:30 (EDT) & 8:30 (PDT).
