AC Milan have been interested in securing the signature of the Liverpool striker, Darwin Nunez, for quite some time. The Uruguayan international hasn’t gotten consistent game time from Liverpool’s new manager, Arne Slot, this season.

So, he is reported to be unhappy and wants to leave the club. However, TeamTalk reports that the Reds are not looking to sell him amidst the interest from AC Milan. Slot’s side are currently at the top of the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League and hence do not want to sell any player mid-season in the January transfer window.

Liverpool will not let Darwin Nunez move mid-season

The Uruguayan striker is strong and has good physical traits along with his versatility. So, the Reds won’t want to lose out on a decent option in the mid-season when they are fighting for trophies on several fronts. AC Milan will need to come back in the summer transfer window in order to try out their luck to sign Nunez.

Slot’s side will be looking to win the Premier League and also the Champions League if possible this season and hence wants to keep as many options as possible. They will also look to get more quality players in the ongoing window.

Many other clubs have made their interests public regarding signing the striker. The Uruguayan has had a tough playing career at the Merseyside club. So, it looks very unlikely that he will settle at Anfield for the long term. He would definitely love to move to the San Siro, but Liverpool would want at least £50 million for his departure.

Can he turn around his future at the Merseyside club?

Nunez has the talent and some of the classic traits of a striker. However, he will definitely need to improve his goal-scoring attributes and his decision-making at the crunch and decisive moments of the game. As stated earlier, Nunez has definitely got the physical traits in him. So, it remains to be seen if his future at Liverpool turns around in the second half of the season.

Nunez impressed everyone with his skills and performances at Benfica. Many clubs were interested in securing his signature, and finally, Liverpool got him for big transfer money. However, he has struggled to finish off chances and will definitely need to rectify it if he needs to turn around his season in the decisive time and moments.
