London City Lionesses sign Arsenal attacker Godfrey on loan | OneFootball

London City Lionesses have completed the signing of attacker Freya Godfrey on a loan deal from Arsenal until the end of the season.

The Pride announced the news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

The 19-year-old has been with The Gunners since joining their academy system at the age of 12. Godfrey went on to make her senior debut for Arsenal in a 4-0 victory at Brighton & Hove Albion towards the end of the 2022/2023 Barclays Women’s Super League season. The youngster has gone on to make four appearances for The Gunners in total at first team level.

In recent seasons, Godfrey has spent time away from Arsenal furthering her development. The player enjoyed a productive dual-registration spell playing in the third tier with Ipswich Town during the 2022/2023 season while last term saw her make 16 appearances for Charlton Athletic in the Barclays Women’s Championship during a loan spell at The Valley.

Godfrey remains a little way off first team minutes at Arsenal therefore she will hope to get further experience under her belt whilst on loan at London City Lionesses.

Godfrey is London City Lionesses’ second signing of the January transfer window. She could make her debut in the club’s next Barclays Women’s Championship fixture at Portsmouth.
