Man City Starting XI vs Crystal Palace: Confirmed Team News and Predicted Lineup

As the curtain prepares to fall on another breathless English football season, all eyes turn to Wembley where Crystal Palace and Manchester City will contest the FA Cup final. For Pep Guardiola’s City, this match is more than a shot at silverware—it’s a chance to rescue pride from a campaign that has fallen short of the club’s high standards.
City’s trophy cabinet remains conspicuously sparse this term. Their early-season triumph in the Community Shield on penalties against Manchester United remains their only honour so far, a minor success in a campaign that has seen disappointment dominate. City surrendered the Premier League crown to Arne Slot’s revitalised Liverpool, bowed out in the last 16 of the Carabao Cup against Tottenham, and were eliminated from the Champions League by Real Madrid in the knockout play-off round.
Guardiola’s frustrations have been compounded by the prolonged absence of Rodri. The midfield metronome and Ballon d’Or winner suffered a season-defining ACL injury during a 2-2 draw with Arsenal last year. Without him, City’s fluency has waned.
Still, there is one last opportunity to finish with flourish. Having swept past Nottingham Forest 2-0 in the semi-finals, Manchester City return to Wembley with purpose. Their opponents, Crystal Palace, arrive with confidence too, having dispatched Aston Villa 3-0 with impressive vigour.
City’s recent Premier League form has been patchy, including a flat 0-0 draw at relegated Southampton. Ruben Dias didn’t hold back post-match, criticising Southampton’s “lack of ambition when it came to style of play.” But such comments do little to mask City’s own creative struggles.
Guardiola, characteristically cautious, continues to monitor Rodri’s condition closely. “He is much, much better,” he said. “I will speak to doctors. When he is ready, he will start. We don’t want to tackle a step back now.” The Spaniard has returned to training but remains a doubt. John Stones, Nathan Ake and Oscar Bobb are also unavailable. As Guardiola confirmed bluntly: “It’s the same as last week.”
For Crystal Palace, this final is a golden opportunity. Free from the weight of expectation that burdens City, Palace can play with freedom and expression. Their semi-final victory over Villa showcased a team with balance, belief and a clinical edge.
City may possess more stars, but Palace carry a spirit that cannot be underestimated. If Guardiola’s side are to avoid ending the season with only a minor trophy to their name, they must rediscover their rhythm, their ruthlessness, and—most crucially—their identity.
