Manchester United are advancing for Sporting CP wing-back Geovany Quenda.
The Red Devils have struggled to play in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 system and one of the main contributing factors is the lack of natural wing-backs in the squad.
The introduction of January signing Patrick Dorgu has already made a difference with his physicality to get up and down the pitch and his attacking threat.
For that reason, United are already making plans to sign another wing-back in the summer and they seem to have their eyes firmly fixed on Quenda.
Amorim knows the player very well as he gave him his debut in senior football and the 17 year old has reportedly already agreed personal terms with the Old Trafford side.
Speaking to GIVEMESPORT, journalist Ben Jacovs has reported that whilst there is still work to do, a deal is making progressing to bring the Portuguese wonderkid to United.
He stated that, “talks are advancing, but not necessarily advanced, because Manchester United are sticking to their number.”
“And at the moment, as you would expect, Sporting are doing the same as well. So there has been a little bit of an impasse.”
Nonetheless, there are two big factors which can help the deal move forward. The first is that they are negotiating with super-agent Jorge Mendes who has brought numerous players to Old Trafford in the past such as Leny Yoro and Manuel Ugarte.
What’s more, the player’s strong desire to join United means that all parties “remain hopeful that something can get done.”
United and Amorim are thought to see a lot of appeal to signing the youngster who can play as both a wing-back and a winger.
The youngster has already played 40 games this season, scoring two and providing seven assists in all competitions.
