Manchester United’s U21s boss, Travis Binnion, has hailed Tyler Fletcher following his classy performance in the side’s 4-2 win over Everton on Friday evening.

United came from behind twice to reach the quarter-finals of the Premier League 2 play-offs. Everton struck early, with Martin Sherif opening the scoring just 37 seconds in, but Ethan Wheatley equalised in the 10th minute.

Sherif restored Everton’s lead before halftime, only for Wheatley to level again shortly after the break.

Tyler Fletcher fired United ahead with a strike from the edge of the box after a clever pass from Sekou Kone, who then sealed the win himself with a stunning goal.

Binnion spoke to MUTV after the final whistle and was in awe of Fletcher, who he tipped to reach the very top.

Binnion said, “Tyler’s making great strides. We know he’s a really great footballer, everyone knows he is, you don’t have to be a brain surgeon to see he’s a good footballer.”

“But he’s adding to his game a lot. He’s working hard, he looks fit, he looks robust, and he makes good decisions in general.”

“He’s got a goal in him, he’s creative, he’s got a really good game understanding, and we’re really, really happy with him.”

“He’s got through [lots] of games this season now, getting through full games, so he’s only going to get better, so we’re really pleased with him.”

Binnion added about the midfielder [via Simon Stone on X], “He’s been outstanding. The fact is he gets into the best of the U21s on merit, like 100 per cent. He affects the game with the ball, the game without the ball and the game in the top third of the pitch. He’s looking strong, fit and there’s loads more to come from him, he’s not done by a long stretch.”

“So yeah, underrated? Maybe because he hasn’t been with the first team and maybe because there are players who are a bit more eye catching in the forward positions who maybe have numbers to support, but he’s not underrated by the staff, the club and the players.”

“He’s excellent and like his brother, he’s got loads more to come, loads more physically to come.”

Fletcher has had an incredible season for the U18s, notching two goals and 11 assists, while he has another three goals and two assists at U21 level.
