Arsenal loanee Reiss Nelson hasn’t had much luck with hamstring injuries this season, suffering one in one leg back in December, then another in his other leg earlier this month.
Fears of a serious setback were confirmed when Nelson revealed he’d had surgery on the problem last weekend, and Fulham boss Marco Silva has now revealed he could miss the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign.
“All of us were excited about him, and when he was really ready to be in contention again for the game, he felt the other hamstring in the other leg,” Silva explained. “Not the same injury, completely different injury in the other leg.”

“He got surgery there, and could be out until the end of the season. I don’t want to give a timescale that is 100% sure, but it could be out until the end of the season, unfortunately for him, and for us.
“It’s a big blow for us, definitely. He was really unlucky with these two injures in a short period of time, and long-term injures, unfortunately for him.
“When he was ready and was there, you can feel his quality, and you can see that he’s a player that fits really well, understood well what we need from him.
“Very good guy, good lad, and another one that makes our dressing room be at the level that I like to see, and the environment and the friendship that’s inside.”

Given Bukayo Saka had surgery in late December and is expected to be out until at least mid-March, a similar timeframe would put Nelson out until at least early May.
Fulham’s final league fixture is on May 25th, so it’s a race against time for Nelson to return soon enough to have a significant impact on the remainder of the season.
Nelson had made 12 appearances for Fulham before his first injury, scoring two goals and assisting one more. He’d just been handed a run in the team when he got injured, starting five Premier League games in a row.
