Manchester United suffered a 3-0 loss to Chelsea in the final of the Women’s FA Cup. Here are our player ratings from the game.
(A score of 6 is around average)
Phallon Tullis-Joyce 4 – Well and truly beaten for all three goals.
Aoife Mannion 4 – Came in for the injured Jayde Riviere and had a tough time against Sandy Baltimore. Chelsea repeatedly targeted that side of the pitch.
Maya Le Tissier 5 – Some brilliant challenges in the first half and had a good battle with Mayra Ramírez but everything fell apart in the second half as Chelsea turned the screws.
Millie Turner 6 – A decent performance. Taken off at the break.
Gabby George 4 – Also did well in the first half but like most of her teammates, just couldn’t quite keep up with Chelsea in the second half. Nearly scored an own goal from a Chelsea cross.
Dominique Janssen 5 – Could have given United the lead but she aimed her effort well over the bar. Didn’t dominate and control the midfield as she usually does.
Hinata Miyazawa 5 – Just OK.
Grace Clinton 5 – A disappointing day in the office. Wasn’t able to be impactful and create goalscoring opportunities or be a threat.
Celin Bizet 3 – Never really got into the game and recklessly conceded a penalty just before the interval.
Leah Galton 5 – Crucial touch in the first half that prevented Ramirez from scoring. A frustrating evening and was not able to lay a glove on the Chelsea defence. Soldiered on after it seemed like she had sustained an injury.
Elisabeth Terland 4 – Didn’t have anything to pounce on. Only chance she had to score came early in the second half but she was unable to direct her header past the Chelsea goalkeeper. A frustrating game for the Norwegian striker.
Ella Toone 5 – It was puzzling that she started on the bench. Came on at half-time and except the half-volley that was easily gathered by Hannah Hampton, didn’t do much.
Melvine Malard 5 – Also unable to have an impact.
Anna Sandberg 4 – Not good enough for Chelsea’s third. Allowed the winger to run past her and deliver the ball inside the box.
Lisa Naalsund 4 – Turned by Baltimore for the third goal.
Rachel Williams 5 – Didn’t really make a difference.
