Ruben Amorim gets midfield boost ahead of last-16 second-leg showdown at Old Trafford
Manchester United look set to have Manuel Ugarte back in action for tonight’s Europa League last-16 second-leg decider against Real Sociedad.
The tie is finely poised as both sides look to make it into the quarter-finals of the competition after a 1-1 draw out in Spain last week.
Ruben Amorim’s side followed that up with another 1-1 draw against Arsenal in the Premier League on Sunday, impressing in the second half at Old Trafford.
Ugarte has returned to training and should be involved against Sociedad this evening. Mason Mount also trained on Wednesday as he looks to put his injury nightmare behind him, although this game will come too soon.
Harry Maguire won’t feature tonight and neither will Leny Yoro, with the latter having been forced off against the Gunners with a foot problem. January signing Ayden Heaven is among the options to replace Yoro.
Amorim has Patrick Dorgu available despite a domestic suspension following a red card against Ipswich last month, although none of his other injured players are expected to feature.
Amad Diallo, Kobbie Mainoo and Luke Shaw could all feature before the end for the season but Thursday’s game will almost certainly come too early for them. Lisandro Martinez, Jonny Evans, Altay Bayindir and Tom Heaton are also still sidelined.
Young striker Chido Obi is ineligible for Europa League competition, having not been registered in their squad for the knockout stages.
Predicted Man Utd XI: Onana; De Ligt, Lindelof, Heaven; Dalot, Fernandes, Casemiro, Dorgu; Eriksen, Garnacho; Zirkzee
Injured: Shaw, Evans, Bayindir, Martinez, Heaton, Mainoo, Maguire, Amad, Yoro, Mount
