Yet again, Marcus Rashford is in attendance at Old Trafford to support Manchester United despite being left out of the squad.

Ruben Amorim has instead preferred to include two goalkeepers on the bench – while also using only 20 places of his possible 23-man squad.

Tonight’s clash against Rangers marks the 10th successive game that the No.10 has been frozen out amid expectations that he will leave the club before the February 3 deadline. He has garnered interest from a host of top clubs across Europe, including AC Milan, Borussia Dortmund, Barcelona and Juventus.

Milan ultimately opted against pursuing Rashford and decided to go all-out for Manchester City wantaway Kyle Walker, who arrived in Italy today to seal his transfer and fill the side’s only remaining non-EU spot.

Rashford’s uncertain future grows more complex by the day

In regards to Barcelona’s interest, they can only formally make their move when they’ve freed up space on the wage bill to facilitate Rashford’s arrival. His £325,00-a-week wages mean that any potential suitor would have to initially take him on loan, with United covering a portion of his hefty pay.

As such, the prospect of him staying in M16 for the remainder of the term is entirely plausible. Amorim will then have to decide whether to restore the 27-year-old to the setup or leave one of his highest-paid players watching on from the stands, therefore driving his transfer value down with each passing week.

Moments before kick-off this evening, the Carrington graduate took to Instagram to wish his teammates well from his box in the stadium, saying: “Come on the boys”.
