Arne Slot has pledged his support to Mohamed Salah after Liverpool's talisman extended his goalless run to four games across all competitions.

Salah is among the front-runners for this season's Ballon d'Or prize, having racked up 32 goals and 22 assists in all competitions, but those lofty standards have worked against him recently as a dip in form has attracted significant attention.

Liverpool's 3-2 defeat to Fulham on Sunday was the fourth consecutive game in which Salah has failed to find the back of the net, while he has not scored from open play since February 23 - a run which now stretches to seven games.

With Salah now enduring his worst goal drought in over two years, Slot backed the Egypt international to rediscover his shooting boots in the near future.

"Maybe he should see [criticism] as a compliment because his numbers were not normal [when he was scoring]," Slot said after the game. "The good thing about Mo is he knows what kind of player he is. Mo will show up again, I don't worry about that."

Fulham manager Marco Silva even admitted targeting Salah's off-ball work on Sunday to help his side avoid falling foul to the 32-year-old's talents.

"Andreas [Pereira] and Rodrigo [Muniz] did well in the first pressure and I think it was key to make them uncomfortable in the game," Silva reflected. "The way that Salah will come to press Calvin [Bassey] most of the time, we were able to beat them on the left-hand side."

The defeat leaves Liverpool 11 points clear at the top of the Premier League standings, with Arsenal failing to capitalise after being held to a 1-1 draw on the blue half of Merseyside against Everton.

The title remains in the hands of Slot's side, who will now recompose themselves ahead of a visit from West Ham United next weekend.
