Manchester United fans are now assuming it’s just a matter of time until yet another new face takes to the Old Trafford dugout.

Last night, the club extended a dismal four-game winless streak, having overseen a 3-3 draw away to FC Porto in the Europa League.

It was certainly a case of two points dropped rather than one gained, though, as United struck early to claim a quickfire two-goal lead thanks to Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund – also Diogo Costa, who was far from his best in the first half of the tie.

Yet, in true United fashion, they were unable to hold on to their advantage for long. There were just seven minutes between the Dane’s strike and Pepe’s contribution at the other end, which was shortly followed up by Samu Omorodion grabbing an equaliser in the 34th minute. Just like that, the lead had been squandered.

How Ten Hag reacted to Omorodion’s second

The relentless Omorodion pounced again only five minutes after the interval, giving the hosts a well-deserved lead against the floundering Red Devils. You can only imagine what was going through Ten Hag’s head at the time, with Samuel Luckhurst sharing on X/Twitter that the Dutchman stood on the touchline ‘motionless for a few seconds before turning and heading back into the dugout’.

Harry Maguire’s late heroics at the death rescued a point for United to take back to Manchester, and perhaps even kept Ten Hag in a job for the weekend fixture away at Aston Villa. Still, time is ticking on his tenure, and it looks as though it’s only heading in one direction.
