Stefan de Vrij fared superbly in Inter Milan’s 2-0 win against Lazio, but Piotr Zielinski and Davide Frattesi weren’t up to the task.
According to Tuttosport via FCInterNews, the Dutch veteran was a ‘wall’ at the back as Inter kept the Biancocelesti at bay.
Simone Inzaghi handed Francesco Acerbi much-needed rest after several exhausting matches in Serie A.
Therefore, De Vrij regained his place in the starting eleven and showed the coach he could rely on him.
Indeed, the 33-year-old enjoyed a phenomenal game against his former club.
However, other second-string stars weren’t up to his standard.
Zielinski returned to the starting line-up at the expense of Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Yet, his performance flattered to deceive as Inter often lacked the Armenian’s energy in the engine room.

As for Davide Frattesi, he reportedly played on painkillers.
That’s a valid excuse for his clueless showing, suggesting Inzaghi’s over-reliance on Nicolo Barella hasn’t been random.
Furthermore, the Roma-linked star had to come off in the second half due to a minor fitness problem.
