Robertson could end up at boyhood club Celtic

There are likely to be a number of suitors for the veteran fullback if he is made available this summer, but a former Liverpool striker has tipped the Scot to return to his boyhood side Celtic.

Andy Robertson has spoken about Celtic and it's probably because he's thinking about it. He is 31 and coming towards the end of his career,” Fernando Morientes told CasinoHawks, via the Daily Record.

“I think if he has a special bond with Celtic and the club recognises him as an important player, then it could be possible."

Robertson, who was released by Celtic as a youngster, has admitted to being a massive fan of the club.

Speaking on the Liverpool FC YouTube channel in the 2022/23 season, Robertson shared that he is a former season ticket holder at Celtic, revealing that the club holds a special place for him.

“Celtic was my life you know. Went to school and then you come back and go in your garden and you pretend to be Henrik Larsson for instance.”

“I didn't watch that much English football [growing up], I only watched the Champions League,” Robertson said. “If a Celtic game was on and say Liverpool were playing Man United, I'd watch Celtic against Motherwell or whoever. So, it was always Celtic for me.”

Despite being such a big supporter of the Scottish outfit, Robertson has never had the chance to represent his boyhood club and, as Morientes suggested, this summer could mark the perfect opportunity for him to return to the club he loves.
