Newcastle and Arsenal competing to sign €80m-rated Hugo Ekitiké | OneFootball

Having netted 18 goals in 36 games in his first full season in Germany, Hugo Ekitiké (22) is expected to leave Eintracht Frankfurt this summer. However, as reported by Sky Sports Germany, he will not leave on the cheap with the Bundesliga side setting a hefty asking price of €80m.

However, according to Sacha Tavolieri, that asking price has not deterred two Premier League suitors. The journalist understands that Newcastle United have reached out to Ekitiké’s entourage to enquire about the Frenchman’s interest in making a move to the club. Newcastle would be willing to meet Frankfurt’s asking price in the event of the sale of Alexander Isak.

Arsenal are also interested in Ekitiké but are yet to make any concrete approach, unlike Newcastle. However, Andrea Berta’s impending arrival as sporting director could change matters and the Gunners could then begin making progress on their summer targets.

The former Paris Saint-Germain forward would be very interested in a move to the Premier League, Tavolieri understands, with a team competing in next season’s UEFA Champions League a priority.
