Newcastle United head to Leicester City tonight as the club’s chase for Champions League qualification continues.

Eddie Howe’s side will hope to take advantage of dropped points for Chelsea and Manchester City, with victory over the struggling Foxes. A win for Newcastle will lift the Magpies into fifth, level on points with fourth-placed Chelsea.

Leicester are edging ever closer to the Premier League’s trap door. It’s been a torrid time for Ruud van Nistelrooy, whose side have lost 13 of their last 14 league games.

Defeat tonight would be an eighth straight league loss at the King Power Stadium. Leicester have failed to score in the Premier League since January 26th – a run of seven straight games without a goal.

Eddie Howe has some major concerns heading into tonight’s clash. Leading scorer Alexander Isak is doubtful after picking up an issue against Brentford last time out. The Swedish striker has scored 20 goals in the Premier League this season.

Newcastle also have doubts over Anthony Gordon, Kieran Trippier and Joelinton, so Howe could be forced to shuffle his pack. Jamaal Lascelles, Sven Botman and Lewis Hall are definite absentees for the visitors.

Fabian Schar, who signed a contract extension this week, will again partner Dan Burn at centre-back.
