On Friday evening, Borussia Dortmund continued their losing start to 2025 with a 2-0 defeat away to Eintracht Frankfurt.

With pressure firmly placed upon Die Schwarzgelben—and more notably on head coach Nuri Şahin—prior to kick-off, there was a sense that should Die Adler come out victorious, then it could spell the end of the road for Şahin.

However, despite falling to defeat in the Bundesliga for a seventh time this season, those in charge at the Westfalenstadion are in no rush to let the 36-year-old go.

Speaking to DAZN (via Sky Germany) after the final whistle, Dortmund’s sporting director Sebastian Kehl commented:

“We will continue in this constellation. Nuri has our trust.”

As well as this, Die Schwarzgelben’s director of sport, Lars Ricken, stated:

“Nuri has had our backing so far, and he will continue to have it. It is his and our responsibility to get the best out of Borussia. Nuri will sit on the bench in Bologna with the clear expectation that we need victories and successes now.”

For now, Dortmund remain glued to tenth place in the Bundesliga, but this could change by the end of the matchday.

Should Borussia Mönchengladbach overcome Bayer Leverkusen at the BayArena in Saturday’s Topspiel, then BvB will fall to eleventh.

Regardless, it is undeniably not the position Dortmund should be in at this stage in the season, and Champions League qualification, which one would imagine is a must for the side, is edging further and further away.
