A change of ownership at La Liga outfit Real Valladolid has on Friday been confirmed.
This comes with former Barcelona and Real Madrid star Ronaldo Nazário having made the call to sell his majority stake in the club.
Calls had long been mounting across the Valladolid fanbase for the legendary Ronaldo to depart the Estadio José Zorrilla.
The Pucelanos are in the midst of a season to forget in 2024/25 to date, long condemned to relegation back to the 2nd tier of Spanish football.
And Ronaldo has been singled out for heavy blame for as much, amid questions surrounding his commitment to the Valladolid project.
In turn, it will mark a source of relief for large sections of the club’s fanbase to learn, on Friday, of the Brazilian officially moving on.
As per a statement across the website and social media platforms of Real Valladolid:
‘The Chairman of the Board of Directors and majority shareholder of Real Valladolid Club de Fútbol, Ronaldo Luis Nazário de Lima, announces the signing of an agreement for the transfer of the majority stake in the Club to a North American investment group with financial backing from a European fund.
‘This operation is subject to administrative authorization from the Higher Sports Council, in accordance with current regulations.’
