Aston Villa had high hopes in the 1982 European Cup after winning the 1981 Division One title.
The Villans brushed aside the likes of Valur, Dynamo Berlin, and Dynamo Kyiv in the early rounds to set up a tough test against Belgian giants Anderlecht in the semi-final.
It was a cagey two-legged affair, which the Villans eventually edged 1-0 on aggregate, but Tony Morley's exquisite first touch and prolific finish at Villa Park provided the decisive moment.
Tony Barton's Villa went on to cinch the 1982 European Cup title with another 1-0 victory over Bayern Munich in the final.
