No single person is more synonymous with the Premier League era, and maybe English football as a whole, than Sir Alex Ferguson.

On this day in 2013, he managed his 1,500th and final game in charge of Manchester United and, of course, it was one that saw him make even more history.

United had lifted their 20th league title a week prior, and the 13th of the Scot's incredible reign, and there was a party atmosphere at the Hawthorns from the outset.

That only grew as the Reds put on a show, leading 3-0 and 5-2 at different points of the game, with Robin van Persie among the goals once again in a brilliant debut season for the club.

However, future United striker Romelu Lukaku would have the last laugh, scoring a hat-trick - just the third against Fergie in the Premier League era - to salvage an unlikely and incredible 5-5 draw for West Brom.

It was and remains the highest-scoring draw in English top-flight and served as a rather fitting farewell to a true giant of the game.
