Leila Ouahabi says Manchester City are improving year on year following our unbeaten start to the 2024/25 campaign.
Gareth Taylor’s side are currently enjoying a 12-game run without loss in all competitions which includes a 10 successive match winning streak.
The Spanish defender has played in nine of those assignments and has helped us to four clean sheets ahead of our tantalising trip to Chelsea today.
In what is the first heavyweight meeting between the sides this term, Gareth Taylor’s team will visit Stamford Bridge at 17:30 (UK).
And Ouahabi believes high-pressure matches are occasions to savour.
“I think we’re growing as a team and are better every year,” she declared.
“I think now we’re in a very good moment and need to do the same things we’re doing now.
“We’re very excited to play these games. For us it’s really important to play well against them.
“All of the teams are different, but the important thing is that we need to be like we have the past few games. I think we’ve done really well, and we need to keep doing the same.
Our last league meeting with Chelsea saw City end the Londoners’ 33-game unbeaten streak at Kingsmeadow as Khadija ‘Bunny’ Shaw’s strike helped us to a memorable 1-0 success in the capital.
However, the reigning Barclays Women’s Super League also enter the fixture also unbeaten in all competitions so far this term.
But Ouahabi is hoping we can impose our style of football on Stamford Bridge’s turf this weekend.
She added: “I think we did really well. The second half was hard for us because we had to defend a lot, but I think we did very well with that.
“We want to have more possession, and we’ll try to bring more of our style to the game.
“Everyone wants to play in these stadiums, for us it’s really exciting.”
