Paris Saint-Germain winger Ousmane Dembele has been named the 2024/25 Champions League Player of the Season, according to UEFA’s official website.
The award is decided based on a combination of fan votes, performance data and insights from the UEFA technical observers panel.
Dembele has enjoyed by far the best campaign of his career, playing a key role for PSG en route to a historic treble under the tutelage of Luis Enrique.
The season was capped off by Saturday’s 5-0 victory over Inter Milan in the Champions League final.
Registering eight goals and six assists in 15 appearances, he set a new record for the most direct goal contributions by a PSG player in a single Champions League campaign.
Despite enduring a rough patch in front of goal towards the end, the Frenchman also won the Ligue 1 Golden Boot with 21 league strikes, sharing the award with Mason Greenwood.
After several injury-plagued seasons at Barcelona, Dembele has become more consistent at PSG, and his exploits last season have solidified his status as one of Europe’s premier wide players.
Dembele will be aiming to enjoy further collective success in the Nations League alongside teammate Desire Doue, who produced a man-of-the-match display in yesterday’s final.
Doue was named as the Champions League Young Player of the Season for his contribution to PSG’s maiden continental success.
Dembele and Doue are currently in pole position to win the Ballon d’Or and Golden Boy awards off the back of an impressive campaign.
Both players were included in the UCL Team of the Year with five other PSG players, highlighting their dominance in the recently concluded edition of Europe’s premier club competition.
