Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey looks increasingly likely to leave the club at the end of the seasonCharles Watt.
Interest in the Arsenal star is mounting from several top European sides. The Ghanaian international (with 49 caps) joined the Gunners in a dramatic £45 million deadline-day move from Atletico Madrid in 2020. He is expected to depart on a free transfer this summer.
Arsenal have yet to open contract discussions with Partey, who will turn 32 before the 2025/26 campaign starts.
Per the report, those close to the player believe Arsenal do not plan to retain him, with a midfield overhaul expected in the summer. Even though he is still a massive player, as manager Mikel Arteta claimed months ago, they will let him walk.
Partey’s current deal expires at the end of the season, and with no renewal from Arsenal in sight, his departure seems increasingly inevitable.
Barcelona, Paris Saint-Germain, and Juventus are all monitoring the situation closely, with the Spanish giants leading the race for his signature.
Partey reportedly favours a return to La Liga when he leaves North London, though no final decision has been made. Despite reported interest from Saudi Arabia, the midfielder is determined to continue playing in Europe.
Arsenal are preparing for changes in their midfield ranks, with Partey and Jorginho expected to leave. The club is actively pursuing Real Sociedad’s Spanish international, Martin Zubimendi, who has been on their radar for some time.
Also, the Gunners are in the race for Norwegian teenage sensation Sverre Nypan and have also been linked with Bayern Munich stalwart Joshua Kimmich, who could be available on a free transfer.
Meanwhile, Jorginho is set to join Brazilian side Flamengo at the end of the season, and Arsenal will need to bring in a replacement for the Italian international.
It might mean that Arsenal starlet Myles Lewis-Skelly moves back to his original position in midfield, potentially saving the club some money that can be used in other areas.
However, the potential signing of Kimmich could be the ultimate addition for the Gunners. The German international would bring an elite winning mentality, vast experience at the highest level, and exceptional versatility.
His leadership qualities and tactical intelligence could make him the perfect figure to anchor Arsenal’s midfield as they push for major silverware next season.
