FC Barcelona are looking to compete for every single title possible this season. While it would be quite remarkable for La Blaugrana to accomplish such a feat, it is still something they aspire to do. However, there are awards at stake for Barcelona beyond just the collective ones.

The prestigious Ballon d’Or award, given to the best player of any given season or year, is up for grabs as well. As one of the most decorated club sides when it comes to their players receiving that award, Barcelona just so happens to have a rich history associated with it.

Moreover, in this particular season, there is a certain Barcelona captain who is seen as being as one of the favorites for it. Interestingly, as highlighted by Mundo Deportivo, 18-year-old Barcelona defender Pau Cubarsi also seems to think that the player in question deserves the award when asked about it:

“Right now, based on the season and how things are going, I’d say Raphinha.”

He was then asked if fellow Barça and Spain teammate Lamine Yamal might mind that answer, given that the 17-year-old winger has been incredible as well this season, but Cubarsi dismissed that thought:

“Lamine understands me—he’d probably say Raphinha too.”

Cubarsi also spoke about other topics, one of which was the possibility of the UEFA Champions League final being one between FC Barcelona and El Clasico rivals Real Madrid:

“For the spectacle, it’s the best final. For people who love football, it’s the best. And for us—whoever comes, comes.”

As for the chances of the Catalan giants winning the entirety of the competition, Cubarsi stayed humble and suggested that each and every team is a title contender at this point of the quarterfinals:

“Right now, we’re in the quarter-finals with the eight best teams, and honestly, I’d say we’re all favorites.”

For now, Cubarsi’s attention will be focused towards his National team. With the international break going on, many Barcelona players are currently involved with their respective countries, but the rescheduling of the La Liga game against CA Osasuna has created some new unique issues as well.
