Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee are also on the chopping block
Paul Scholes says Manchester United should sell summer signings Matthijs de Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee as one of nine players who should leave the club this month.
Ruben Amorim's appointment in November has not produced the upturn in results the club desperately need, and Sunday's home defeat to Brighton saw the manager brands his players as the "worst team" in United's history.
Scholes is seemingly in agreement and feels the time is up for a number of United's so-called stars, including two summer signings who were signed mere months ago for close to £100million.
Taking part in a game of 'Keep or Sell' regarding United's squad, Scholes said of De Ligt: "He's done OK of late but I think I'd sell."
On Zirkzee he was more emphatic, simply replying: "Sell."

Others on the chopping block for Scholes were Lisandro Martinez, Luke Shaw, Mason Mount, Marcus Rashford, Antony and Casemiro.
Alejandro Garnacho also faces an uncertain future, with Chelsea and Napoli both interested. Scholes would prefer to keep the young Argentine at the club but understands selling him could bring in funds to improve the squad.
He said: "I think United could get better than Garnacho, although he’s a young player and there’s still probably better to come, I still think he’s a little bit scruffy in his technique at times, I think his decision-making sometimes is really poor.
"I wouldn’t be afraid or I wouldn’t be worried if they sold Garnacho. But [Kobbie] Mainoo, I would be offended by that.
"[Garnacho] is absolutely capable, there’s no doubt about that, but finding him a position in this team has been a struggle. I'd keep him, I think there's more to come from him but for now I'd keep him."
