His arrival is a cause for excitement, although currently, the focus of many is on Manchester City’s loss to PSG last night. But following last night’s defeat Manchester City have a tough Premier League fixture coming up against Chelsea at the Etihad. That game does loom as a pivotal match in City’s chase for a top-four finish. Perhaps that game may be the perfect occasion for Pep Guardiola to unleash his new attacking pairing at the Etihad.

The idea of Omar Marmoush playing with Erling Haaland is an exciting proposition. Erling Haaland’s strengths are well known. But it does appear on paper, at least, that Omar Marmoush’s game could complement Erling Haaland’s. Marmoush can play in a variety of roles. He can play as a striker, out wide or just behind another striker. With his goal-scoring ability and his ability to create for his teammates, he could immediately step in and play alongside City’s number 9.

Speaking with mancity.com Omar Marmoush is excited to play alongside Haaland. When asked about the prospect of playing with the world’s best striker he said: “I can’t wait. Erling is a goal-machine and I’m very excited to be able to play with him on the pitch and learn some things from him also. Hopefully, I can assist him, and we can enjoy playing together.”

Saturday’s clash with Chelsea does loom as a big match in City’s season. They do have a tough run of fixtures coming up. That begins at the Etihad on Saturday. It may also be the ideal time to unleash Haaland and Marmoush together. After last night’s result, it does appear that Pep Guardiola’s squad needs a lift. Giving Marmoush his debut at home may provide it. If he can hit the ground running and begin to form a partnership with Erling Haaland City will be better for it. Marmoush shouldn’t need a lot of time to get up to speed to life under Pep Guardiola. He arrives at the Etihad already fit and ready to go. Saturday’s match may be the ideal time to unleash their new signing and provide a lift for such a big match.

Omar Marmoush trained today with his new teammates. Whether or not he starts Saturday’s match remains to be seen. But it may the ideal setting for him to start alongside Erling Haaland. At home, in a big match does look to be the perfect setting for Marmoush to debut and begin to form a partnership with Haaland and the rest of his teammates.
