Portsmouth eyeing deal for Celtic striker Daniel Cummings | OneFootball

English Championship club Portsmouth have joined the race for Celtic striker Daniel Cummings, according to Sky Sports journalist Anthony Joseph.

The 18-year-old Hoops starlet is currently free to talk with other clubs and sign a pre-contract agreement during the ongoing January transfer window as his contract at the Parkhead club ends at the end of the season.

Cummings has not been offered a contract extension by Celtic, and clubs all over Europe and the English Premier League are monitoring his situation, with Portsmouth the latest to register an interest.

The Fratton Park club are looking at reaching a pre-contract agreement with the Hoops academy graduate and are eyeing him for their first-team.

Cummings has yet to feature for the Celtic senior team despite notching 24 goals in 24 games so far this term across all competitions for their youth team, and a move elsewhere would appeal to him as manager Brendan Rodgers is clearly not a huge fan.

West Ham United, Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Fulham, Ipswich Town, Sunderland and Burnley have all registered interest in him, but he will be taking his time before making a decision.

More suitors will join them and Portsmouth in his pursuit in the coming days, and it is safe to say he will be on his way out of Celtic in the summer.

Cummings has proven himself domestically and on the continent in youth football, and he will fancy his chances of impressing at senior level.

Pompey are offering him that chance and the Hoops will have to settle for around £230,000 and £330,000 in training compensation after he leaves.
