Rangers will face Fenerbahce in the first leg of the round of 16 Europa League clash on Thursday night, and Barry Ferguson will be aiming to make a mark in this competition.
The Gers suffered yet another defeat at Ibrox on Saturday, losing 2-1 to Motherwell. The new ownership could transform Rangers as they badly need an injection of cash to compete with Celtic and in Europe.
Rangers must focus on the Europa League and should look to repeat the heroics of 2022, when they reached the final of this competition.
Ferguson will demand a sharp response from his side on Thursday, but it won’t be easy against Jose Mourinho’s Fenerbahce, who are unbeaten in their last 18 games.
The Bears have been boosted by the return of several first-team players, with defenders John Souttar, Leon Balogun and Dujon Sterling all fit and available for this game..
Jack Butland is the undisputed first-choice keeper at the club, and he will continue despite his error against Motherwell.
In defence, Ferguson will definitely make some changes. Souttar is available, and he goes straight into the starting line-up. Both Sterling and Balogun are fit, and Ferguson could start with the 36-year-old defender due to his experience.
James Tavernier will move to his customary right-back position, and Ridvan Yilmaz will shift to left-back. Jefte, 21, has struggled in recent games, and he could be dropped.
In midfield, Nicolas Raskin and Mohamed Diomande will continue. Raskin has been brilliant this season, while Diomande brings energy to the middle of the park.
Nedim Bajrami has looked good after coming from the bench in recent games, and it will be a good time for him to get his first start under Ferguson. Ianis Hagi will miss out in that case.
Vaclav Cerny, Hamza Igamane and Cyriel Dessers will form the front three.
