Manchester City finalized this winter transfer window the €35 million transfer of 19-year-old Brazil youth international defender Vitor Reis from Palmeiras.

ESPN Brazil previously reported that Manchester United, Arsenal, and Paris Saint-Germain are all interested in the 19-year-old. However, with Reis under contract until December 2028 and a €100 million release clause, a transfer anytime soon seems unlikely.

Brighton & Hove Albion had tried to take the lead, with journalist Charlie Parker-Turner revealing that the Premier League club made a £23.5 million bid for Reis. This comes after two previous offers from Brighton were rejected.

Now that Reis is a Manchester City player, his agent, Federico Pastorello, discussed the transfer and how City made it clear that the player’s next move would be to the Premier League.

“Reis had offers from all over Europe,” Reis’ agent said (h/t AS). “Once the Premier League’s battleships entered the field, the figures skyrocketed.”

According to Bild, Chelsea and Arsenal had joined the race to sign the Brazilian talent. Palmeiras had seemed determined to keep him and unwilling to let him go without a fight, but in the end, Man City’s offer was too good to pass up.
