Southampton's previous opponents Newcastle United want to overtake Tottenham Hotspurs to sign Tyler Dibling. To sweeten the deal, the Toons could allow Matt Targett to return to Southampton.
Recently, it was touted that Tottenham Hotspurs have worked out a masterplan to sign Tyler Dibling from Southampton. Though Tottenham urgently needs some attacking recruitments, they were said to be patient until the next season to witness Dibling play for them.
If Southampton receives such an offer, they wouldn't think twice before accepting. After all, the London outfit has shown respect to Southampton's current struggles with this gentleman's agreement.
Still, this offer remains in the making and hasn't been officially proposed. Thus, other interested clubs still have their prospects open about testing Southampton's resolve with a different offer.
As it stands, their recent opponents Newcastle United do have an enticing deal to lure the Saints.
According to a report from 3AddedMinutes, Southampton could get a chance to bring in a Newcastle United player. That player could be a familiar face among the Saints talent academy.
Toons defender Matt Targett has graduated from Southampton's renowned academy previously before bursting onto the Premier League stage. Hence, the defender brings enough Premier League pedigree with him which could be an important factor for the Saints.
Still, many Southampton fans may argue against taking a defender in exchange for an attacker plus a significant transfer payment. Taking a closer look, this potential deal isn't too bad to consider.
The reason being that Targett is a left back by trade and Southampton are set to lose their best this year. You may have guessed, we are mentioning Kyle Walker-Peters' departure.
The 27-year-old seems bound to leave the club either this week or a few months later. As a result, Southampton know they will be busy trying to fill his void in their squad come June.
Thus, getting a decent replacement could sort out the issue of approaching other clubs and players for a transfer. Let's see whether this potential transfer eventually gets agreed upon.
