Another thrilling Premier League season has drawn to a close, with Liverpool returning to the top of English football by claiming their 20th league crown.
The Reds sealed their second Premier League title last month, but had to wait until the final day to lift the trophy. Arne Slot is the first manager in the club’s history to win the title in his first season, and his predecessor, Jurgen Klopp was in attendance at Anfield to watch the trophy lift.
Despite Manchester City’s fall from top spot, Arsenal were unable to capitalise and finish second for the third season on the trot. A big summer is expected for the Gunners as Mikel Arteta looks to finally end that hoodoo. They do return to the Champions League, though, joined by Manchester City, Chelsea and Newcastle.
Also in the Champions League is Tottenham, despite finishing 17th, after they beat Manchester United in the Europa League final four days earlier. Both clubs have endured miserable domestic campaigns and need significant improvements over the summer to avoid an unthinkable repeat showing in the league.
Southampton, Ipswich and Leicester were all relegated in the weeks leading up to the final day.
