Two leading members of the midfield ranks at La Liga outfit Real Betis have been forced into respective withdrawals from their international squads for the upcoming break.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards Giovani Lo Celso and Johnny Cardoso as the pair in question.
Lo Celso, for his part, was afforded a call-up to the Argentine national squad for an upcoming pair of World Cup qualifying fixtures against Uruguay and Brazil.
The former Tottenham Hotspur man, however, has been given permission to remain in Seville for the break, owing to an ongoing calf issue.
Midfield partner Cardoso, meanwhile, was also called upon by the USA for an upcoming CONCACAF Nations League clash with Panama.
But, with the 23-year-old dealing with a muscle strain which ruled him out of Real Betis’ European endeavours in midweek, he, too, has received the blessing of his country to remain in Spain to continue his recovery.
