Real Betis will not ‘give away’ Vitor Roque for free if Barcelona sanction exit

Although the winter transfer market has closed in Europe, one FC Barcelona player can still undertake a move in the coming few days. This is because the market has not yet closed in Brazil, and the Brazilian club Palmeiras is interested in signing the striker Vitor Roque, who is currently playing on loan at Real Betis.
Although he was quite an important part of Manuel Pellegrini’s squad for the first half of the season, the Seville side has brought in another striker in the last winter transfer window, while also having several other options for this position. Thus, the future of the Brazilian starlet is quite uncertain at the side that has the option to extend his loan for another year after the end of this season.
In such a context, Palmeiras are looking to get the talented striker, and are willing to offer the sum required by Barcelona to not make a loss in the whole Vitor Roque operation. However, they are not too keen to pay anything to Real Betis, if the Verdiblancos end up asking for a compensation, and want the Blaugrana club to deal with the Andalusians.
As previously reported, the Catalans were hopeful that Betis will allow Roque to leave without any compensation as they will save on his wages for the rest of the season, and will also not have to fear about the possibility of incurring a €1.5 million penalty if the Brazilian does not play 50% of games this season.
However, according to Mundo Deportivo, Real Betis are clear that they will not give away Roque for free if Barcelona approach them for this purpose, and would want compensation to part ways with him in the middle of the season.
This compensation can either be in cash, by at least paying the fee that the Verdiblancos have paid up to now, or by increasing their rights on Ez Abde.
Vitor Roque can start for Pellegrini in tonight’s UEFA Europa League clash against Gent, as Cucho Hernandez is not registered for this competition. But there are two other options for this position as well, Chimy Avila and Bakambu. Thus, it would make some sense for Betis to part ways with Roque if Barcelona are willing to offer them some compensation.
