The King Abdullah Sports City in Jeddah witnessed a one sided affair in the Spanish Super Cup semi-final as Real Madrid overcame Mallorca comfortably with a 3-0 win.

Dani Ceballos started the game from the bench with Ferland Mendy starting as the left back and Eduardo Camavinga in midfield alongside Fede Valverde.

Real Madrid were off to an attacking start as it took Lucas Vazquez just two minutes to force Mallorca’s shot stopper Dominik Grief into action.

The goalkeeper was further involved in making as many as 3 saves in just the first 10 minutes of the match.

Los Blancos attack was flowing through the left side mainly, with Vinicius and Rodrygo switching flanks fluently.

This was perhaps Madrid’s best half display in some time despite not getting on the scoresheet as the men in white kept 67% possession and had 15 shots at goal as compared to Mallorca’s 6.

After a collision in the 55th minute, Aurelien Tchouaméni was substituted in favour of the young Raul Asencio.

Finally, after an hour of trying, Real Madrid broke through but even this did not come without a challenge. It took as many as 3 attempts for Jude Bellingham to score as Rodrygo first hit the woodwork, Kylian Mbappe shot right at the keeper, and then the calmness of Jude helped the ball past 4 Mallorca players on the goal line.

The scoreline so far had not done justice to Madrid’s display because Mallorca were complacent and shockingly did not even force Thibaut Courtois to make a save.

What was looking like a narrow victory, turned into an easy one after Martin Valjent put the ball into his own net and Rodrygo scoring comfortably from Lucas Vazquez’ cross to end a dominating night.

Raul Asencio in particular, had a few words to say to Pablo Maffeo, who was the centre of attention in a battle against Vinicius on the night – this led to players from both sides going at each other physically and had to be separated.

Other than that, there is a huge concern as Valverde and Bellingham were suffering from an overload as commented on by Carlo Ancelotti and the team hopes both the players are fit before the big final.

All things said, Los Blancos could not have asked for a much better performance as they now prepare to take on FC Barcelona in the final in hopes of winning their 3rd title of the season.
