Real Madrid are gunning down transfer targets with utmost urgency after their poor showing this season and the team is set for a massive change on all fronts.
Carlo Ancelotti will step down after the team’s final game in La Liga and the stage is set for Xabi Alonso to take over as the new manager.
Needless to say, Florentino Perez is now firing on all cylinders to bring in the reinforcements the new manager demands.
Earlier this month, Los Blancos completed the signing of Dean Huijsen from Bournemouth and are also on the verge of signing Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool.
Ramon Alvarez now reveals that the club are close to their third signing of the summer.
As relayed by the Spanish journalist, Real Madrid have reached an agreement with Benfica left-back Alvaro Carreras to arrive before the Club World Cup.

With a personal agreement with the player now in place, the administration are working towards reaching an agreement with Benfica which is yet to be reached. Negotiations, however, are underway to bring down the €50 million release clause.
The Merengues are determined to bring in their new left-back before the competition in June and will reportedly sign Carreras on a deal that runs until 2031. He will receive a salary of close to €9 million at the club.
Carreras, a former La Fabrica trainee, has been on Real Madrid’s radar for a long time now, more so after Alphonso Davies rejected them to extend at Bayern Munich.
The 22-year-old’s imminent signing now means that one of Fran Garcia and Ferland Mendy will leave the club this summer with the former having a greater chance of leaving the club. Rapid progress can be expected in the coming days.
