Real Madrid ‘following’ key Arsenal star ahead of the summer | OneFootball

The brass at La Liga champions Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on developments surrounding Arsenal star William Saliba, ahead of the summer.

That’s according to Foot Mercato, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the latest developments behind the scenes in Spain’s capital.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that Real Madrid are on the lookout for reinforcements at the back.

Owing to the latest long-term injury suffered by Éder Militão, Los Blancos are aware that dipping into the market for reinforcements with a view to next season is something of a must.

And, amid their ongoing scouring of the market, one name in particular continues to come to the fore – William Saliba.

Arsenal standout Saliba is of course widely considered one of the standout defenders in all of Europe, an absolutely crucial component of Mikel Arteta’s Gunners backline.

And such exploits have long been appreciated on the part of those in the boardroom at the Santiago Bernabéu.

So much so that, according to French outlet Foot Mercato:

‘His profile ticks all the boxes in the eyes of the Casa Blanca, who are following him for next summer.’

Though Real Madrid are aware that any deal for Saliba would be a tough one to come by, they are hopeful of using his contract situation (expires in 2027) to the club’s advantage.
