As Real Madrid look to shore up their defensive ranks in the coming summer, Dean Huijsen name has often come across as a potential target.
The young Spanish centre-back, who has made a big breakthrough at Bournemouth this season, has emerged as a target for Los Blancos, along with a few top Premier League clubs.
Huijsen, for his part, is determined to join Real Madrid as he is a huge fan of the club. However, the prospect of Huijsen’s potential move to Santiago Bernabeu appears to be waning with each passing day.
According to a recent report from Fabrizio Romano (h/t SPORT), Real Madrid are slowly losing grip on the Huijsen pursuit.
Although the Spanish giants can easily snap up the Spanish international by simply paying his release clause, which is worth €58 million, it appears the move may collapse altogether.

This is primarily because of the fact that Real Madrid are not too keen on meeting Huijsen’s €58 million release clause.
It seems the club are looking for more cost-effective options in the market, which explains reports linking them with a Bosman move for Liverpool star Ibrahima Konate in the summer of 2026.
Nevertheless, Huijsen cannot wait foreover. The Spaniard is set to take a decision on his future by the end of May or early June.
This doesn’t bode well for Real Madrid as there are certain Premier League clubs such as Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool, who will be more than willing to pay his release clause.
Keeping that in mind, it won’t be surprising to see the young Spaniard remain in the Premier League in the coming summer.
