Real Madrid seal their spot in the playoffs of the UEFA Champions League after sealing a comfortable victory against Brest in the final match day.
Despite a good fight put up by the French side, Los Blancos were superior thanks to some individual brilliance.
Here is how the Real Madrid players fared against Brest.
Player ratings:
Thibaut Courtois: 7.5
Ends the group stage with a well deserved cleansheet and had to work hard for it. Made as many as 5 saves, including a breathtaking save by just his fingertips.
Lucas Vazquez: 7.5
A good game at the office for the Spaniard. Recorded an assist, along with 3 clearances and a couple of interceptions and tackles each. Won 4/7 duels.
Aurelien Tchouaméni: 6.5
Looked uncomfortable due to the physicality of Ludovic Ajorque. Gave away fouls which were reckless and avoidable. 5 clearances, 2 blocks and 1 interception
Antonio Rüdiger: 7.0
Calm and composed on the ball. Played 9/10 long balls. 3/4 duels won and as many as 8 clearances defensively.
Ferland Mendy: 7.0
Held his ground defensively and did well against the Brest wingers. Again, not much of an attacking presence.
Fede Valverde: 7.5
Was as deep as that of a defensive midfielder. An absolute workhorse despite looking a bit worn out in the second half. 3/4 duels, 5 clearances and 2 tackles.
Luka Modric: 8.0
An absolute magician. At the ripe old age of 39, still orchestrates the midfield like he is in his prime. Set up Rodrygo for the opening goal. Played 3 key passes, 1 big chance created and won 5/10 duels. A deserved standing ovation from the Brest crowd.
Jude Bellingham: 8.5
Finally amongst the goals after 5 games. Set himself up for his own goal after he ran from the his own half till the final third, with Vazquez assisting the Englishman for the goal. 9/16 duels won, 100% accurate long balls and 1 key pass. Man of the match display.
Brahim Díaz: 6.0
Not his best outing by far. Did not have a single shot on or off target. Perhaps having him to do some of the defensive work is not a good idea.
Rodrygo: 9.5
Has been in insane form since the last month or so and extends his purple patch with this performance. A brace, with the solo run for the first goal being a standout. 10 goals and 4 assists in 14 matches since his return from injury in December. An absolute delight to watch in Vinícius Junior’s absence.
Kylian Mbappe: 7.0
Would have felt unlucky not to score on the night. Forced the goal keeper to make a few saves. 7 shots taken on the night – 2 on target, 4 off target and 1 blocked. Still, looked dangerous at times.
Substitutes:
Arda Güler: 7.0
Replaced Brahim and played better than the Moroccan in 18 minutes. 1 key pass and 1 big chance created from 16 touches. His role was a bit more central and not mainly on the right wing.
David Alaba: N/A
8 minutes on the pitch and just 1 clearance to show. Not enough to warrant a rating.
Dani Ceballos: 6.0
12 touches, 1 key pass in the final few minutes on the pitch.
Raul Asencio: N/A
Not enough defensive actions to warrant a rating.
Endrick: N/A
Just 2 touches in 2 minutes hence does not qualify for a rating.
