Davide Frattesi ran the show as Inter dismantled Serie A minnows Lecce 4-0 at Stadio Via del Mare to stay within striking distance of Napoli. The Roma-linked midfielder addressed the media after scoring an opening goal and seeing another first-half strike disallowed for offside.
Simone Inzaghi handed Frattesi only his fifth league start in 2024/25. The 25-year-old repaid his manager’s trust with a scintillating performance, after which he reiterated his commitment to Inter.
“I am very happy to be here. I am part of the family and try to repay them however I can,” the Inter ace told Sky Sport Italia via FCInterNews.
Roma have emerged as the likeliest candidates to sign Frattesi this winter. However, Inter are reluctant to let the ex-Sassuolo star leave Giuseppe Meazza midway through the campaign.
They’ve even slapped a substantial €45 million price tag on his shoulders to fend off potential suitors. Unfazed by Frattesi’s agent’s attempt to force his client’s exit, Inter seem on the verge of keeping Nicolo Barella’s deputy until the end of the season.
Moreover, Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio recently played down speculation over Frattesi’s alleged transfer request. He insisted the player has never asked to leave despite irregular first-team football under Inzaghi.
On the other hand, Lautaro Martinez registered a fourth consecutive scoring appearance. El Toro has returned to form following an underwhelming first half of the season, handing Inter a crucial boost ahead of the pivotal juncture.
