If INEOS fail to bolster Ruben Amorim’s frontline before tonight’s transfer deadline, he will have only four forwards at his disposal for the second half of the campaign.
Last night, Manchester United confirmed the departure of Marcus Rashford on loan to Aston Villa, who will have the option to make his switch permanent upon the culmination of the term.
His move comes in the same week Antony temporarily bid farewell to Old Trafford to head to La Liga and look to revive his stagnant form with Real Betis. He hadn’t made a Premier League start in 2024/2025 prior to his exit but did at least provide the boss with another option to utilise off the bench.
Yet, INEOS have left it until the dying embers to try and acquire added depth for their newly-hired head coach – and it’s left fans infuriated; the side sit 13th-placed in the table and are nothing short of dire in front of goal. If things continue as they are, Amorim is undoubtedly being set up to fail.

Supporters will be well aware that, over the weekend, a deal fell through for Bayern Munich wantaway Mathys Tel.
He turned down Tottenham Hotspur last week despite a verbal agreement being in place between the two clubs, having already set his sights on the Red Devils.
However, with United only able to pursue the 19-year-old on a loan transfer, Bayern have grown reluctant to accept the terms being offered. They want to ensure they’ll receive a sizeable fee by sanctioning their youngster’s sale, therefore pushing for an obligation-to-buy to be included.
Weighing in on the transfer saga on his YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said: “My information is that at this time, Mathys Tel is still pushing for a loan move. Bayern, on their side, are still insisting on a permanent move, loan with obligation or permanent.
“Because they had 60 million euros guaranteed from Tottenham, and the player said no. So what happens now?
“All the clubs interested in Mathys Tel are still there calling and trying to understand what happens. Man United did that in the last 48 hours, Arsenal also informed.
“So several clubs are still calling because the player would be open to a loan move on deadline day. Now, it depends on what the player and Bayern will decide. If Bayern will give the green light to Mathys Tel or not?
“But for sure, a super interesting situation for Mathys because there is strong interest in a potential last-minute deal. And so let’s keep the story open.”
Tel, a U21 French international, earned high praise from his teammate Sven Ulreich following his breakthrough.
“Mathys is a fine guy, is inquisitive, willing to learn, down-to-earth and works a lot on himself,” said the goalkeeper.
“He is a role model for all the young players who come here. He comes up and does his job. We’ve had other examples that didn’t handle it that way.”
