Roshn Saudi League side Al Orobah announced on Sunday the signing of Syrian forward Omar Al Somah from Qatari outfit Al Arabi.
Al Somah, 35, is the RSL’s all-time top scorer having registered 144 goals in 180 appearances in the colours of Al Ahli, where he spent eight seasons between 2014 and 2022.
During his time in Jeddah, Al Somah won the RSL Golden Boot three consecutive seasons between 2014-15 and 2016-17, in the process leading Al Ahli to their first domestic league title in 32 years, when they were crowned champions in 2015-16.
Following Al Ahli’s shock relegation to the First Division League in 2022, Al Somah departed to Qatar, joining Al Arabi and leading the club to the Emir Cup title - their first trophy in 30 years.
Playing in the top division for the first time in a decade, Al Orobah currently sit 14th in the 2024-25 RSL table and have struggled for goals, scoring only 11 in 14 matches - the second lowest tally in the competition. Newly appointed coach Adnan Hamad will therefore be hoping Al Somah can fire his side to survival in the remainder of the campaign.
