New Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim is reportedly keen to bring in Galatasaray attacker Yunus Akgün.
The Red Devils will shortly be changing up their formation with Amorim preferring a 3-4-3 formation, that will require wing backs and attackers to perform in ways they are perhaps not accustomed to.
This change of playing style will inevitably mean that the new boss will seek out his own type of player to fulfil his specific tactical instructions.
One player that has been linked to a switch to Old Trafford is Turkish international Yunus Akgün.
The Peoples Person has relayed that United are attracted to the player’s versatility to play as a wing back and a more traditional winger.
Turkish outlet Sabah echo these rumours and state that Amorim has “set his sights on” the 24 year old to improve his squad.
The outlet also praises the player’s ability to play all across the front line, as they state he can also perform as a number 10.
Interestingly, the paper claims that Amorim’s attraction to the player has gone on for some time as he “noticed Yunus during his time coaching the Portuguese team.”
This interest has carried on to United where the new coach has reportedly given “a positive opinion” on the influence the Turk could have on the club’s playing squad.
The Istanbul native has six goals and two assists in all competitions, including four strikes in four games in the Europa League.
Akgün is said to excel at passing and dribbling and also is keen to cut in to get shots off.
The Galatasaray player would certainly be an interesting prospect and his versatility and relative value for money at €6.5 million according to transfermarkt.com, could mean he might turn out to be a smart and valuable addition to what Amorim wants to build at Old Trafford.
