Capocannoniere Mateo Retegui bagged a brace to turn Como around and get Atalanta back on track with a 2-1 away victory, despite the Nico Paz opener.
La Dea were stuttering in 2025, managing three points from four Serie A games and fresh off a home defeat to leaders Napoli, despite their midweek Champions League hammering of Sturm Graz. Isak Hien was suspended, but Sead Kolasinac returned, with Odilon Kossounou and Gianluca Scamacca injured. Como were on fine form after holding Lazio and crushing Udinese 4-1, but Edoardo Goldaniga sat out a ban with Sergi Roberto, Ignace van der Brempt and Alessandro Gabrielloni not fully fit.
Alberto Moreno ran onto a dangerous Maxi Perrone pass and was cut off by Juan Cuadrado, but then limped off with a relapse of his muscular issue.
Como took the lead on the half-hour mark with Alieu Fadera won it back down the left and rolled across for Nico Paz to smash into the roof of the net from 14 yards. It was initially flagged offside for Fadera’s position, but VAR confirmed it was a valid goal.

Atalanta also lost a player to injury after Marten de Roon’s clash of heads with Perrone, part of a double substitution made by Gian Piero Gasperini at half-time.
Nico Paz almost pressed Marco Carnesecchi into a costly error dealing with a back-pass and Alberto Dossena prevented Ademola Lookman turning in from six yards on the Lazar Samardzic roll across.
Marco Brescianini came off the bench and within 60 seconds had provided the assist for the equaliser, rolling across from the left for Mateo Retegui to fire in first-time from 12 yards.
Lookman had the ball in the net when flagged offside, but just 60 seconds later Atalanta did turn the game around with a similar dynamic to their first goal. Once again, Brescianini rolled across from the left, it went past Samardzic and found Retegui to take a touch and sweep in with his right foot.
Como had the ball in the net, but Patrick Cutrone was offside turning in the rebound from an Andrea Belotti volley.
Charles De Ketelaere also scored on 79 minutes after Ederson robbed Belotti and sent him through on a fantastic pass, but after taking three attempts to finally bundle it over the line, the goal was disallowed for handball.
