Jack Grealish’s future at Manchester City is the subject of ‘private intimations’ within the Etihad Stadium ahead of the summer transfer window, according to a new report.
The England international forward has endured one of his most challenging campaigns to date since joining the club from Aston Villa in the summer transfer window of 2021, largely through fitness and injury frustrations.
Grealish has been unable to stake a serious claim for the consistent starting left-wing role for Pep Guardiola’s side despite some bright moments when handed the opportunity to start, with the performances of his competitors for the position simply stronger.
The Treble winner faces stern competition for a starting role on the left of Manchester City’s front-three from Jeremy Doku, Savinho, and now Omar Marmoush – all of whom bring a more direct style to their game in attacking areas.
And while there had been some hope of a resurgence in the centre of the park for Pep Guardiola’s side after a promising showing against Nottingham Forest in December, it seems as though Grealish’s time with Manchester City is in serious doubt.
According to the information of MailOnline, sources at the Premier League champions have been ‘intimating privately’ that this summer could be the end of the road for Jack Grealish at the club.
For now, it remains to be seen just how much interest Grealish could attract in the upcoming summer transfer market for example, and how much Manchester City would demand for a player they invested in so heavily four years ago.
One report at the end of December in the lead up to the January transfer window revealed that Premier League rivals Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United had been monitoring Jack Grealish’s situation at Manchester City, but with little to no developments since.
It also remains to be seen whether Manchester City would deem it necessary to strengthen further in their wide attacking roles in the event of an exit for Grealish, particularly with Oscar Bobb set to be added to the ranks when he recovers from a long-term absence through injury.
Attentions are likely to be focussed elsewhere in the squad during the upcoming summer transfer window, with the full-back roles and attacking midfield taking priority over the wide wing roster for incoming sporting director, Hugo Viana.
